Omelam Tablet is a combination of two medicines used to treat anxiety and insomnia. It relaxes the nerves in the brain and ensures sound sleep. It also prevents excess acid formation in the stomach, indigestion, and heartburn that may be associated with anxiety or lack of sleep. Omelam Tablet may be taken with or without food. However, it is advisable to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor as it has habit-forming potential. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Finish the full course of the treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly as it may cause nausea and anxiety.Some common side effects of this medicine include confusion, drowsiness, tiredness, uncoordinated body movements, depression, memory impairment, headache, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and flatulence. However, these are temporary and usually resolve on their own. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or bother you.It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. It may cause diarrhea, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine as it may help to prevent dehydration. How it Works
Omelam Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and Omeprazole. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger (GABA) which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Omeprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor which reduces the amount of acid in the stomach which helps relieve indigestion and heartburn.
